Education Vacancies Education Vacancies VICTORIA UNIVERSITY OF WELLINGTON CHAIR IN ECONOMICS THE COUNCIL of Victoria University of Wellington invites applications from suitably qualified men and women for appointment as Professor of Economics in the Faculty of Commerce and Administration. Another Chair has recently been advertised, with an emphasis on policy issues, applied research and problems of the New Zealand economy. There are also Professors of Econometrics and Money/ Finance. The Professor of Economic History is currently seconded to the Institute of Policy Studies at the University. To complement these fields, the successful applicant for this Chair will have a substantial research record and proven academic leadership in some area or areas of economic theory. He or she will be expected to have the ability and interest to provide leadership and guidance to staff working in a variety of micro and macro theoretical and applied areas. All professors are expected to take an active role in the teaching, research and administration of the Faculty. Staff in the Faculty have hitherto been grouped in the three major departments of Economics, Accountancy and Business Administration. Following an external review the Faculty has been reorganised into smaller groupings, creating an environment which encourages more interdisciplinary co-opera-tion, and strengthening the focus in teaching and research on areas of particular concern in the capital city, which is a centre for finance and administration in both public and private sectors.
