Law enforcement

Sir, —As one who has recently returned to live in this lovely city, but appalled to see the breakdown of law and order which has taken place in the last 15 to 20 years, particularly in the Square area, I propose that the Ministry of Transport be incorporated in our police force, making available many useful officers to tackle the real crime problems of this country and so relieve our under-manned police. I am quite certain that many of these good traffic officers could be far more gainfully employed than at present, harassing relatively law-abiding motorists. — Yours, etc., HARRY MITCHELL.
