Lincoln lecturer injured in three-car collision
A senior lecturer in horticultural management at Lincoln College, Dr Rupert Tipples, is seriously ill in Palmerston North Hospital after a three-car collision on Saturday. The accident occurred about 8 p.m. at Awahuri, on State highway 3, between Palmerston North and Feildlng. Dr Tipples, who is married with three children, was the sole occupant of a rental car heading towards Palmerston North. A car driven by a woman in the opposite direction failed to take a moderate left-hand corner and crossed the centre
line, coUMlng head-on with Dr Tipples’ car. A car following Dr Tipples* ploughed into the two vehicles but its occupants escaped unhurt The driver of the car which crossed the centre died at the scene. She was Lynette Larsen, aged 25, of Feildlng. The male passenger in her car escaped serious injury. Dr Tipples, who has been oh the Lincoln College staff since 1977, is in the hospital’s intensive care unit The nature of his injuries were not unavailable.
