Youths accused of burning puppy
PA Auckland A packed public gallery filled the District Court at Henderson yesterday when two youths appeared jointly charged with aggravated cruelty to a puppy. The youths, aged 17 and 18, were remanded on bail 'without plea to October 19. The charges relate to an incident in which a puppy was doused in
petrol and set alight in Ranui on Sunday night An appeal for suppression of name because of fears for the youths’ safety was granted until noon today by Judge Duncan, so that the pair could get legal aid. His submissions were interrupted when a member of the public in the gallery shouted that the two should burn. She was removed from the courtroom.
