Trapper not found
Divers spent hours yesterday probing without success the waters of Lake Mahinapua for a missing opossum trapper, believed drowned. A Hokitika police spokesman said late yesterday afternoon that the search for:Colin Richard Eagle, aged 29, of Ruatapu, had: been stood down for the day because of the cold water, and rain, and would resume this morning.
Mr Eagle had been seen in his canoe on the lake about midday on Monday attending his opossum-trapping lines along the verges. The canoe overturned and Mr Eagle has not been seen since. His dog which was with him swam ashore. The canoe was later washed up near the confluence of Mirror Creek at the southern end of the ■■ lake. ’ ' '
