King, Williams triumph
Marcus King and Chrissie Williams won the senior men’s and women’s grades in the Canterbury orienteering championships at the Bottle Lake plantation. More than 100 entries from throughout the South Island were received for the championships. The Christchurch Peninsula and Plains club was dom-
inant. Its competitors won more than half the 24 grades. There were several notable individual performances by Christchurch runners. Kevin McGlinchy was a comfortable winner of the M4OA grade, and Ken Sibley (M4SA) and Graham Boniface (M3SA) both ran well to win their grades.
Jenni Adams, a New Zealand Wl7 representative, ran' above her class and performed creditably to finish third in the senior women’s grade. Chris Fome, winner of the MI2A grade, won the Buchanan Trophy for the best individual performance at the championships.
