Greymouth reporter

An opossum trapper is missing, believed drowned, on Lake Mahinapua, south of Hokitika, after a canoe accident about midday yesterday.

His name has not been given until next-of-kin have been informed.

Sergeant Brian McGurk, of the Hokitika police, said last evening that it appeared the man had used his canoe to check opossum lines round the lake verges but that it had overturned. ¥ 7
