Chile
Sir,—l wish to inform P. W. Holder and Graeme Ford (July 27) of their ignorance regarding Chile. The reason for the United States providing assistance to Chile is to prevent further infiltration of the Soviet Union into that country. New Zealand also requires the assistance of the United States for the same reason. The situation which existed in Chile prior to the coup in 1973, should be a warning to New Zealand. We, too, are now experiencing a similar sequence of events in our social and economic chaos.—Yours, etc., JANET MILNE. July 28, 1987.
