The quality of paint

Wallace Crossman’s exhibition at the James Paul gallery is about paint quality. He says his work is concerned with the metaphysics of paint quality and colour.

He spent the first three months of last year on a research project on acrylic paints. The project took him from Dunedin to Auckland, Wellington and Sydney.

“But mentally it shifted me further into the direction of explaining the language of paint quality and colour as a viable means of communication and expression.”

The exhibition, which runs until May 23, features 19 works. They are for sale and range in price from $lBOO to $550. They carry such titles as “The Fight Back or Off the Respirator,” “Back to the Wall or Getting Your Feet Wet,” and “Linguistice/’ .
