Sumner sky

The changing moods of the Sumner sky are the inspiration for painter Barbara Robertson for an exhibition of works at Joanna’s Studio. The 37-year-old painter lives on the Sumner hill. She has painted with layers of acrylic with pencil and ink finish for this exhibition. She works on a small scale to make her works more “accessible.”

Barbara Robertson is an arts teacher who has taught arts and crafts in Canterbury schools. She likes working in different media and her last exhibition was of assemblages in Auckland. She has also done patchwork, applique, screen prints and lino prints. The exhibition will continue at the Colombo Street gallery until the end of the month.
