Rural bank loans down for fishing
PA Wellington Rural Bank lending to the fishing industry is well down this year, according to the bank's assistant general manager, Mr Arnold Snodgrass. The bank’s 1986 annual report said that the demand for loans declined during the 1985-86 financial year pending the introduction of the individual transferrable quota system for managing inshore fisheries. During 1985-86, 45 new concessional loans worth $2.5 million were approved.
