Sunday Club cancels meeting
For the second time this year the National Party ginger group, the Sunday Club, has postponed a public meeting with Sir Robert Muldoon. Sir Robert was due to speak at a $lOO-a-ticket forum in the Stringleman Room at the Canterbury Public Library on Monday. The chairman of the Sunday Club, Mr Bert Walker, said that Sir Robert would be unable to attend the forum because a recent overseas trip had caused his schedule to be changed. Instead of addressing Sunday Club supporters, Sir Robert would be busy filming a television commercial for Sabco Garden Products. Mr Walker said the Sunday Club hoped to have Sir Robert at a public meeting early next year. In May this year, the Sunday Club had booked the Christchurch Town Hall for a meeting with Sir Robert, but turned the booking over to the new party leader, Mr Jim Bolger.
