NZPA Edinburgh Katie Sadlier is the only New Zealand swimmer who emerges from the water feet first. As the stereo winds up at the Royal Commonwealth pool, Sadlier’s feet break the water. Then her legs emerge, and 30 seconds later her head appears. , Sadlier is the country’s gnly synchronised vswimming entry in the Games.
Coached by her sister and former partner, Lynette, she will contest the sport which has been included in the Games for the first time. The Wellingtonian, aged 21, gives herself a good chance of taking the bronze medal when the competition starts on Friday. “I’m going for third. Canada will take first and I’d pick Australia tp be second,” she said.
