The great guinea pig caper

SARAH HEAD,
When I was eight I owned a tiny black-and-white kitten. One day she was standing on the road when a car ran her over. I was terribly sad after that, so Mum asked me if I wanted another pet. I’ve always wanted guinea pigs. Mum said she’d buy me two.
The next day she bought them. I called
them Limpy and Limpess. The only thing wrong with guinea pigs is that they have lots of babies. The next morning they had. five babies. I managed to give away two to my friend. Next thing you know the babies are having more babies, and so on.
Soon we’re stuck with 24 guinea pigs. Our neighbours started' to complain about their kids bringing
home so many guinea pigs. Four of them escaped. Mum sold 10 to a pet shop. I started to teach the rest of them tricks. They knew how to roll over, how to fetch and how to come to dinner.
One day we went to the vet. On the way out I tripped up and they all ran away.
So much for my guinea Pigs.
