“Duck in the Sea” Is the title of this week’s $5 Junior Press Mail Bag winning story. Once again, we have a backlog of stories sent in to the Junior Press, so be patient, contributors, your work will be published within the coming weeks. Post work to Junior Press, P.O. Box 1005, Christchurch. One day Bink-a-Bonk the curious duck went to Nelson harbour. He saw ships and boats, but most
of all he saw a submarine. He looked at it.
Then he saw a hatch, so he went inside.
Suddenly the hatch closed and Bink-a-Bonk was trapped. He pressed frantically at the controls but it only made the submarine’s motor go. The force of the motor snapped the ropes that were holding the submarine to the jetty.
The submarine started going out to sea. "Help, help!” shouted Bink-a-Bonk, but of course no-one could hear him. Further and further out
to sea went the submarine.
“Help, help!” shouted Bink-a-Bonk again. Then he noticed a board called “How to control this submarine.”
Bink-a-Bonk looked at the radar. There was something on it. Bink-a-Bonk turned the submarine towards the dot on the radar. Soon he saw that it was only an underwater palace. Bink-a-Bonk looked in it, but it was deserted, so he went back to Nelson harbour in the submarine.
