Inflation lowest
Israel’s cost-of-living index rose 1.6 per cent in June, the lowest inflation figure for the month in the last 10 years, the Government says. Its statistics bureau said the index rose 8.6 per cent over the last six months, bringing the annual projected inflation rate to 18 per cent June’s figure was identical to the May index, reflecting the success of the Government’s year-old austerity programme to stem the country’s spiraling inflation rate, which reached 445 per cent in 1984,-jglel Aviv.
