TVNZ trucks damage park

The Marlborough Rugby Union will decide what action to take against Television New Zealand for damaging one of its playing fields in Blenheim after the damage is fully assessed this

week. Lansdowne Park’s No. 2 rugby field may not be used for the rest of the season. It was damaged by TVNZ outside broadcast trucks on Saturday. Two trucks were used

to transmit the All Black trials. The Marlborough Rugby Union management committee met last evening to discuss the damage. The union’s president, Mr Aubrey Kenny, said after the meeting that no action would be taken until it had been fully assessed. However, TVNZ would be notified. The damage could have been avoided if the vehicles had gone round the edge of the field in-

stead of across it, Mr Kenny said. The field was ruined when one of the trucks became bogged while leaving. It was removed by tractor. A second vehicle aggravated the situation. "It is going to take a lot of repairing and, in fact, it is doubtful if we can use it for the rest of the season,” Mr Kenny said. The broadcast vehicle came from Dunedin. Its supervisor was unavailable for comment.
