Chilly dip on Saturday

Radio Avon has announced that it will not disappoint those keen masochists who missed the annual midwinter “brass monkey” swim which was meant to be held at New Brighton last Saturday. The organisers decided not to hold the Radio Avon New Brighton

Businessmen’s Association Brass Monkey Swim because the sea was too dangerous. Anyone still interested in a swim in midwinter seas will be able to take part in the event on Saturday, at 11 a.m.

All funds raised from hot food sold after the

swim will go to the New Brighton Creche.

Members of the Canterbury Sun Club took to the water last Sunday in a midwinter swim to raise money for the Commonwealth Games Fund. Twenty members of the club plunged into 14deg. water and raised $4O.
