Event to remember
A memory event, calling for navigation skills and accurate recall of map details, provided a testing senior course at the Peninsula and Plains Orienteering Club event on Sunday. There were more that 150 runners at Victoria Park. Dave Laurie edged out Graham Boniface on the senior course, and Marcus King ran clear on the green course. The up and coming runner, Trevor Hoey, is making a strong challenge to established club runners this year, and was placed on two courses. The forthcoming Canterbury championships, to be
held at Living Springs on July 19, has attracted several entrants from other clubs, and should provide an interesting measure for the P.A.P.O. runners’ current form. Results: Brown course: (4km): D. Laurie, 57:11, 1; G. Boniface, 59:30, 2; Trevor Hoey, 1:01:38, 3. Green course: (3.3 km M. King, 40.12, 1; T. Hoey, 50:25, 2; B. Aitken, 52.50, 3. Yellow course: (2.Bkm):M. Holland and A. Allan, 40:48 1; B. Thrower and J. McMillan, 42:52, 2; J. Watson, 56:27, 3. White course: (I.3km): B. Thrower and J. McMillian, 11:21, 1; J. Drummond, 13:45,’ 2; F. Stanton, 14:36, 3.
