Hadlee helps side win
NZPA-Reuter London Irresistible all-round performances by Richard Hadlee, and the South African, Clive Rice, helped Nottinghamshire topple the Sunday cricket league leader, Somerset, yesterday. The pair shared the spotlight, with the discarded England opener, Chris Broad, who struck his best score in the 40 overs competition of 100 not out, as Notts pulled off a 32-run win at Bath.
Broad hit 10 fours in his innings of 117 balls and put on 126 in 19 overs with Rice, who hammered 68 from 56 deliveries. Broad and Hadlee, with a rapid 30, added 49 in eight overs to lift Notts to 241 for seven. Somerset was spurred by a league best of 71 in 69 balls by Richard Harden, while West Indies captain Viv Richards lashed 64 from 43 deliveries. But Rice, with four
for 33, and Hadlee, taking three for 38, caused a collapse in which the last seven wickets crashed for 26.
