Over the tea cups
Sir,—l wish to respond to the letters of L. Molland (May 28) and R. Galloway (May 30) regarding the amenities at Stewarts Gully. The seats in the park are provided by the Lands and Survey Department and, as they have been subjected to extreme vandalism, no doubt the department does not intend to replace them. One of these units has been demolished to a mere heap of firewood by patrons who overindulge in liquor and become somewhat bored as to what mischief they can get into. I have the rubbish left behind from these drunken orgies. I am the assistant caretaker of the golf course and am usually about at week-ends. If I am not the caretaker is. Both complainants could not have looked very far. If these complainants would care to make a substantial donation to the area, I will personally see that amenities of an extremely permanent material are provided. — Yours, etc., J. R. BESWICK, Assistant caretaker. June 9, 1986.
