Halifax holds on
Halifax was held to a 13-13 draw by Featherstone Rovers on Sunday, but still retains a narrow lead in the British rugby league first division championship. Widnes did not play, but all of the other leading clubs had victories. St Helens beat Oldham, 44-12, Wigan was a 29-6 winner over Leeds, Warrington gained a 23-20 success at Hull, and Hull Kingston Rovers headed off Swinton, 28-20. In other first division fixtures Castleford beat Salford,
30-16, and Dewsbury beat York, 18-16. Points are (with matches played in parenthesis): Halifax 44 (30), St Helens 42 (30), Wigan 41 (29), Widnes 40 (29), Warrington 39 (29), Hull Kingston Rovers 33 (29). Second division: Batley 10, Blackpool 20; Doncaster 14, Whitehaven 13; Leigh 26, Barrow 18; Rochdale Hornets 18, Keighley 19; Wakefield Trinity 22, Huddersfield 14; Workington Town 14, Hunslet 19; Carlisle v. Bramley postponed.
