Freightman appeal
The appeal by the Springston owner-trainer, Ken Chapman, against the disqualification of his horse, Freightman, from the Firestone Eurosteel Pace at Addington Raceway on January 3 was heard in Christchurch yesterday. Freightman deadheated for first with Malaz in national record time for 2600 m, only to be disqualified for causing interference to Hondo’s Dream with 2100 m to run. The decision of the tribunal has been withheld until an application for a review of penalty imposed on Freightman’s driver, Michael de Filippi, is considered on a date yet to be set.
