J. Fleming suspended

PA Wellington The Opunake trainer-driver, John Fleming, had his horseman’s licence suspended up to and including February 5 at Hutt Park on Wednesday night. Fleming, the driver of Happy Averil in the Cable Price Mobile Pace, was found guilty of interference, jostling Local Mini twice during the race. An objection against the third placing of Gunner Morris in the Cable Price Graduation series was dismissed after an inquiry. The inquiry found Gunner Morris had not interfered with the favourite, Rob Roy MacGregor, which went into a break in the run home. Rob Roy MacGregor hung around the top bend and despite the efforts of the driver, Jack Carmichael, to straighten the horse, his near hind hoof hit the wheel of Gunner Morris’s sulky. ’*
