Lead in assault case

Christchurch detectives were last evening following a strong lead in their search for a man who indecently assaulted a woman in a violent attack at a party in Linwood early on Tuesday morning.

The police found the woman, aged 37, trying to hitch-hike in Linwood about

1.30 a.m. She was admitted to The Princess Margaret Hospital in a distressed state, and was discharged later in the day. Detectives have located the house where the attack is thought to have taken place, and several persons have been interviewed.
