French Polish gallops keenly

Special correspondent Palmerston North French Polish hit out in fine style at Awapuni yesterday morning in her final trial for the Trumps Eulogy Stakes. French Polish has thrived since her fast-finishing second in the Bayer Classic and her race day rider, David Walsh, was most impressed by her work. Commissionaire again hit out well on the plough and Lomondy, Auto Air and Zeb were others to record impressive gallops. Only two horses used the course proper, which is in excellent order. French Polish ran from the 1200 m, though the pace was on only for the last 600 m. She ran the distance in Imin 21s, the last 600 m in 38s, and she finished on strongly. She has drawn wide tomorrow but the pint-sized filly is ready for a big effort Conceited, a form runner for the Axis Handicap, worked well over 1000 m, the last 800 m in 50s and the 600 m in 375. He has raced without luck lately and must have a winning chance tomorrow.

Logical Miss was the only other to equal Zeb’s time. She ran the 1000 m in Imin 3s, the last 600 m in 38.25, and this was a fine trial for the Axis Handicap. She has not looked back since Waipukurau. Magnitude could not have been more impressive when he ran 1000 m in Imin ss, the last 600 m in 395. He could have done even better. He has thrived this week and must be a big threat in the Fletcher Steel. - •

Auto Air took time honours for 800 m, running' the distance in 50s, the last 600 m in 375. He is at his best for the big juvenile event and he should register his fifth successive victory. . , Proud Seal, a big prospect for tomorrow, went fast early then eased to complete 1000 m in linin 455, the' last 600 m in 40s. He is the likely Enaker in the Fletcher Amythest shaded Ralu at the end of 1200 m in Imin 17s, the last 600 m in 40s. Amythest would need rain for the Trumos Eulogy.
