PA Auckland Police say it may be a month before they know what caused the death of a man found lying in long grass in south Auckland. Kim Graeme Birch, aged 19, a labourer, of Manurewa, was found dressed in only trousers and socks near Popes Rd, in Takanini, on Friday afternoon. His death was being treated as suspicious. The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research told police it could take another three weeks before the results on extensive tests on Mr Birch’s body were completed. Detective Senior-Sergeant Peter Mitford-Burgess said the tests were unlikely to be conclusive, and police attempts to trace Mr Birch’s movements before his death could show whether it was accidental.
