Month sees exodus
PA Wellington The latest Statistics Department migration figures show a big rise in permanent and long-term departures for the year to the end of November. There was a net longterm migration loss of 18,424 for the period, compared to a loss of 1806 for the corresponding period in 1984. In the year to the end of November there was a net loss (for all arrivals and departures) of 12,731, compared to a gain of 2224 for the year ended November 1984. Figures for the month (all arrivals and departures) showed a gain of 8923, compared to a gain of 8557 in November of last year.
