Milford track

Sir, — The article that appeared in “The Press” on November 28 is misleading as it indicates no space on the Milford Track until next March. While this may be true of the walk operated by the Fiordland National Park, it is not the case with the walk operated by this corporation which, with its larger capacity, has vacancies throughout the season with only a few departures being fully booked out. This does not assist our efforts to boost tourism with its totally misleading information. I am surprised that a paper of your reputation would not have researched the full situation before printing. — Yours, etc., W. P. NEWTON, Marketing manager, Tourist Hotel Corporation. December 2, 1985.

[The article about new huts for independent walkers was not intended to imply that no room i§ left for those who wish to join the guided parties arranged by the Tourist Hotel Corporation. These parties, as the article mentioned, stay in different huts along the track. We readily acknowledge that the corporation has room for more bookings. — Editor.]
