Cost of car parts
Sir,—The letter of R. A. Batey (December 2) on the cost of car parts prompts me to relate an incident I experienced. I broke the plastic knob on my choke control. On inquiry, I found I had to buy a complete choke wire assembly, not just a new knob. I went to the Christchurch firm which represents the makers of my car. They had the part priced about $32.1 refused to pay that much and carried on with the broken knob. A week later in a well-known Christchurch motor parts and accessories firm I bought the choke wire assembly for about $l3. The difference of a few dollars may be justified, but surely not $l9 odd. — Yours, etc., J. E. EDER. Rangiora, December 2, 1985.
