NZPA-AFP Johannesburg The white South African junior lightweight boxer, Brian Mitchell, whose devastating right-hand punch led to the death of a Soweto boxer, Jacob Morake, has gone into hiding after threats against his
Mitchell, aged 24, did not attend the huge funeral for
Jacob (“Dancing Shoes”) Morake, who was fatally injured in the twelfth round of their bout a week ago. Black friends from Soweto warned Mitchell that his life might be endangered if he attended the funeral. Mitchell has been under sedation most of the week. He had described Morake as his friend.
