Price of houses up $5600
PA Wellington The average price of a house had increased about $5600 in the first six months of this year, Parliament’s Social Service Select Committee heard. Figures provided by Housing Corporation officials being questioned on the corporation’s estimates showed that the average house price last December was $63,400, but in June this year the figure was $69,000. The officials said the increase in the average price of a house for the first six months of this year was slightly up on that for the last six months of 1984. Regional variations had to be taken into account when considering the figures. In New Plymouth, for example, housing prices had gone down in the last six months.
