Strategy for pay increase
PA Wellington Secondary teachers had strategies to solve the teacher shortage and to fight for higher pay, said the president of the PostPrimary Teachers’ Association, Mr Tony Steele, yesterday.
The association went into committee at its conference to discuss the issues. Mr Steele would not disclose details.
Earlier in the conference he predicted a teacher shortage of up to 700 at the start of next year, and said salary increases were the key to preventing such a shortage.
