Mr Cain new secretary

Mr Struan Cain, systems administration manager at the New Zealand Trotting Conference for the last 18 months, has been appointed the new secretary of the conference.

Mr Cain, aged 31, will take up his new position on August 1, succeeding Mr lan Mill, who becomes the chief executive officer of the conference at the beginning of the new season. Educated at Timaru Boys’ High School and a former steward of the Timaru Trotting Club, Mr Cain joined the Trotting Conference initially in 1981 as a trainee stipendiary steward.

In his capacity as systems administration manager, Mr Cain has designed the new racebook format, improved the recording of Year Book statistics and designed the use of computerised forms and the provision of drivers’ income tax details.
