Group invades TV set
PA Auckland The former All Black halfback, Mr Chris Laidlaw, was being interviewed in an Auckland television studio yesterday when a group invaded the set and berated him about the South African tour.
Mr Laidlaw, now the Prime Minister’s adviser on African affairs, seemed nonplussed by the rowdy intervention during taping for the Cathy Saunders’ chat show, “Tonight.” He declined to discuss the incident. The protesters were escorted from the studio by security officers. It is believed no charges have been laid. Mr Kevin Hague, of the anti-apartheid group, Hart, said the protest was aimed at plans to televise nine of the All Blacks’ matches in South Africa.
