Summer Times
The full Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, playing in North Hagley Park this evening for the first time, promises to be one of the highlights of the Summer Times entertainment programme. The free concert will feature a variety of classical and popular light music and will culminate- with a performance of Handel’s “Royal Fireworks Music,” accompanied by a spectacular firework display on and around Victoria Lake. If the weather is not fine the concert will be postponed to Sunday. TODAY Lunchtime Entertainment, Cathedral Square, mid-day to 2 p.m.: Robin Brew (human jukebox), Phil Stevenson, Natural Magic. Coca-Cola Classical Sparks, 8.30 p.m. to 10 p.m., North Hagley Park: The C.S.O. outdoors. TOMORROW International Youth Year Opening Day, North Hagley Park, 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.: Bands, dance, theatre, clowns, food and a raft race on Victoria Lake at 3 p.m. A day organised by youth to launch the United Nations International Year of Youth.
