Family Care ‘windfall’
PA Wellington The Government has significantly over-estimated the number of families qualifying for the Family Care benefit, says the Opposition’s social welfare spokesman, Mr Venn Young. “It now appears that there are 60,000 fewer applications than budgeted for by
the Government,” he said yesterday. "This means that in a full year there will be a saving of almost $lOO million in expected expenditure. “The Minister of Social Welfare, Mrs Hercus, should use this windfall to remove Labour’s savage surtax on superannuitants,” Mr Young
