All well with Vin d’Amour

PA Wellington Nothing has been found amiss with last season’s top two-year-old, Vin d’Amour, which finished many lengths last in the Desert Gold Stakes at Trentham last month. The Woodville trainer, Jeff Lynds, said yesterday that tests conducted on the filly have so far proved that all was well Immediately after the Desert Gold Stakes, the heartbeat of Vin d’Amour was reported to be above normal and still that way 45 minutes after the race. Lynds subsequently had Vin d’Amour undergo a series of E.C.G. tests to record the heart rate and all but one of the results have been evaluated. “Everything appears to

be all right,” said Lynds. "She seems well within herself now.”

As a result Lynds is still mystified by her run at Trentham. “I don’t really know what happened,” he said.

The trainer said he would wait for the results of the one test still outstanding before bringing the Adios II filly back into work. “That will be in about a couple of weeks time. If that's okay she will resume training,” he said. Vin d’Amour, which had the distinction of being equal-top two-year-old on the Australasian Free Handicap with Golden Slipper winner Inspired, had finished third in two of the Wrightson “Filly of the Year” races before her Trentham failure.
