Inquiries into fatal stabbing continue
P S. - ■' V! i’ PA Whangarei The police continued intensive homicide investigations in Kaikohe yesterday after a fatal stabbing on Friday evening left one man dead and' left, others seriously injured. , ! . No arrests have yet been made as the police are still piecing together the events of a bloody battle that erupted outside the Kaikohe Hotel about 10.30 p.m.
The confrontation was between members of an outside gang, believed to be Whangarei based, and a Kaikohe group. A member of the gang, Mark Julius Kapea, aged 21, of died of multiple stab wounds suffered in the conflict. Four men injured in the fight are in Whangarei Base Hospital, a fifth has been discharged.
