Choral recital

The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament choir will mark the feast of Assumption by performing Palestrina’s six-part “Missa Assumpta Est Maria.” The performance at 7 p.m. tonight in the Cathedral will be followed by a recital of choral and organ works at 8 p.m. Among the performers is the outgoing organ scholar, Michael Zon. This leaves the scholarship open for applicants. The position of Cathedral organ scholar provides free

organ tuition, and requires choir accompanying and regular playing for Cathedral masses. No previous organ playing experience is required, but applicants should have developed piano technique to about Grade 7 level. The initial award will be for one year from September, 1984, and the scholarship may be awarded for further years if appropriate. Further details are avail-' able from the Cathedral organist, telephone 585-873.
