Poets read
“In Post-Olympic Cabaret” is the name poets Gary McCormick, Cilla McQueen and Steve Thomas have given to their show at the Star and Garter Tavern this week-end. The name was suggested by Gary McCormick in reaction to the last two weeks of Olympic fever. The Auckland entertainer will perform the two cabaret shows before leaving for Australia. Steve Thomas, now working with the Southern Regional Arts Council in Christchurch, is well known for his performance with his “Pink Bits” show and his performance at the recent Christchurch Festival. Dunedin’s Cilla McQueen also performed in a group poetry reading at the festival. She believes the personal communication afforded by a live performance adds a new dimension to the written word. The show will begin at 8 p.m. on Friday and Satur-, day evenings.
