PA Nelson Bay of Plenty and NelsonMarlborough won the men’s and women’s zone finals, respectively, at the New Zealand' darts championships in Nelson. Nelson-Marlborough retained the women’s title after remaining unbeaten in section play. It had wins over Southern Districts, Wellington, Hawke’s Bay and Waikato, and beat Canterbury, 14-10, in the second semi-final. Canterbury was unbeaten to that stage. Nelson-Marlborough faced Taranaki in the final after Taranaki had beaten Auckland, 14-10, in the first semifinal. Nelson-Marlborough survived a close match to win, 13-10. In the first men’s semifinal, Bay of Plenty beat Hawke’s Bay, 14-10, while Auckland and Otago battled

to a 12-12 draw in the second. Auckland won the sudden-death extra game to reach the final, though it was eventually beaten by Bay of Plenty, 13-8.
