Friend apologises

The friend of an armed robber apologised to teenagers after they had been held up at knife-point in Christchurch early on Saturday morning. Detectives were continuing inquiries into the incident, said Detective Senior-Sergeant Roger Carson. The group of teenagers were robbed of $l2 and a watch as they were sitting in a car on the Main North Road about 12.40 a.m. The robber had previously threatened them with a pocket-knife. Two of his associates were in the background and took no part in the robbery. One of them apologised to the teenagers after they had been robbed. The robber is described as European, about 173 cm (sft Bin) tall, and sandy hair,

and slim build. He wore blue jeans and a jacket and a handkerchief round his neck.
