L.P.G. price drops

Christchurch liquefied petroleum gas users are feeling the first benefits of the opening of the Dunedin bulk storage depot this month. A big Christchurch retailer, the Christchurch Gas Company, dropped its price from 50c a litre to 43c after receiving the first “bulk drop” out of Dunedin on Tuesday. The manager, Mr Vincent Matthews, said that the gas cost the company 5c a litre less from the new depot than from the North Island. The company had dropped its price 7c to 43c because North Island consumers paid between 42c and 44c a litre and it “took the average.”
