Live stock entries expected to be of high standard
Patrons at this year’s Kaikoura A. and P. Show will seldom have seen the South Bay domain so green at this time of year. The quality of stock and prices paid at the recent Kaikoura Ewe Fair reflect the growing season, and entries in the live stock sections at the show are expected to be of a very high standard. Of novel interest at this year’s show — the district’s seventy-second — will be the three sprint races for gallopers, with equalisator betting. Crafts people will be exhibiting their wares, including pottery, woodturning and basket making. Exhibits will be available for pur-
chase. Disappointment was expressed at the unavailability of the Marlborough Pipe Band but it is hoped that the St Andrews Highland Band may be available instead. Entries in the photography sections have been strong, with entries from as far afield as Picton and Alexandra. For the first time, computer systems will be exhibited in the trade section, with Armstrong and Springhall, Ltd, demonstrating farm systems. Lunch will be available, and other entertainments will include a baby show, and miss/master junior Kaikoura competitions.
