No prosecution of mushroom plant

No immediate legal action under the Health Act will be taken against Meadow Mushrooms, Ltd, by the Paparua County Council. The council’s finance committee yesterday agreed to give the company time to complete the installation of an odour-control system. The decision not to prosecute would be reviewed in three months if the system had not been completely

and successfully installed. The Health Department told the council in June that a prosecution should be taken because the smell was a nuisance to residents near the factory at Prebbleton. At its August meeting, the finance committee delayed a decision on the pending prosecution. It was subsequently discussed by the council’s Meadow Mushrooms sub-committee and with the County Solicitor.
