Third offshore rig

Nelson reporter A third offshore rig will join the search for oil off the New Zealand coast in November, according to Mr John Reid, managing director of Helicopters (N.Z.), Ltd. Sedco 60, a new semisubmersible rig, will drill a hole for Shell-8.P.-Todd, Petrocorp and others off the

northern Taranaki coast, just west of Kawhia. It will join Penrod 78, recently arrived at the Maui field, and Benreoch, which will drill in the Great South Basin. The vessel is expected to stay in New Zealand waters for about four to five months. As with the other rigs, it will be serviced by helicopters of the Nelsonbased firm.
