Lively Waikato match
PA Paeroa After leading 17-3 at halftime, Waikato came under some heavy pressure from a lively Thames Valley pack before winning, 27-7, in a
non-championship rugby match at Paeroa yesterday. Waikato had the first use of the wind and sun and did not take long to get points on the board. With the forwards in control, the Waikato backs ran the ball well and deserved the good lead at the interval’ In the second spell, Valley forwards did much better and while never in danger of defeat, Waikato had to call on some very desperate defence to keep the home side away from the tryline.
