PA Blenheim Damage to roads and bridges in Marlborough after last week’s flood is estimated to cost more than $1 million. The Ministry of Works and Development’s district engineer, Mr Jim Toms, said yesterday that damage to county roads accounted for about $700,000 and to State highways more than $300,000.

A specific estimate of $1.02 million would be tabled at tomorrow’s meeting in Wellington of the National Roads Board and every effort made to have the required funds allocated. The N.R.B. would be asked to give special consideration in allocating subsidies to the Marlborough County Council because of the extent of the damage caused.
