Drowning suspected
PA Hamilton Searchers combed Hamilton Lake early yesterday, but did not find a Hamilton man who is believed to have drowned there on Sunday. Mr Steven George Dewe, aged 29, of Hamilton, was paddling a canoe with his daughter, aged eight, about 10.30 a.m. when the craft overturned. Mr Dewe’s wife swam out to the pair and found them both still afloat. She swam ashore with her daughter, but then found her husband
had disappeared. Divers searched the area where the canoe capsized, but could not find the body.
